How often do I need an oil change?
Although different engines have different requirement, and various type and brand of motor/engine oil are available in the market, it is recommended to check the manufacture requirement and consult your mechanic to learn how often you must change vehicle’s oil.
Usually it is recommended to change your oil every 5,000 kilometres or 3,000 miles for older model vehicles and regular oil and 5,000-8,000 miles or 7,000 to 12,000 kilometres for newer models with synthetic oils. How ever as mentioned before, you must check your manufacturer recommendation to consider type of oil you are going to use and change interval. It is also recommended to change Oil Filter every time you change your vehicle’s oil.

Do EV and Hybrid vehicles need oil change?
- EV: A fully electric vehicle or EV unlike gas powered engine (combustion engine) do not an oil change since they do not have engine’s piston and other moving part that require oil for lubrication. You must remember EVs do have other fluid requirements you have to pay attention to such as brake fluid or coolant.
- Hybrid:Hybrid cars, just like gas powered cars, require oil change since they have a combustion engine with moving parts, although if you drive most of time on low speed you may need oil change less often than a fully gas-powered car.
